Career Counseling

Work Life Management, LLC counsels senior managers to increase their effectiveness and productivity on the job. We work with private clients to assess their skills and interests, in preparing resumes, and in job search strategies. Throughout her career in human resources, Pat counseled hundreds of employees in finding their next right positions, many of whom sought flexible work arrangements. She is Myers-Briggs Type Indicator certified.

Work/Life Consulting

Work Life Management, LLC provides value-added consulting services to companies looking to attract and retain talent and to increase productivity through work/life programming. As the work/life manager for J.P. Morgan’s 15,000 employees, Pat introduced a flexible work arrangement program with a web based request process and manager training. She achieved recognition for J.P. Morgan as one of the 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers, with best in class mention for the fourth annual eldercare fair, the lactation program, and the new flexibility initiative. She introduced a new maternity and paternity leave program, enhanced back-up childcare programs with on-site school’s out camps, doubled employee usage of resource and referral and EAP programs, and contracted for a premier concierge service.

Training and Facilitation

Pat is an accomplished trainer and facilitator across a broad range of HR related topics such as managing change, team building, harassment, work/life programming, delivering quality customer service, and performance management.

- Facilitated a team building intervention for major pharmaceutical firm for a union/management team in crisis.

- Trained customer service supervisors in how to provide superior customer service in a highly stressful environment for a major medical testing company.

- Conducted manager training to accelerate the transition of a manager working with a new team by clarifying expectations, reducing ambiguity, setting the tone for open communication, and by developing an inventory of business issues.

- Facilitated trainings to enhance the effectiveness of a new or an existing team by affirming team mission, setting team goals, clarifying roles, and establishing team operating agreements.

- Trained over 600 managers in how to manage employees working flexibly. Created a web based request process for flexible work arrangements.

- Train medical professionals and volunteers to be trainers of the Arthritis Foundation’s Self Help course. Skills taught are the principals of self-efficacy, communication, feedback/contracting, and problem solving.

- Delivered a stress management seminar to high net worth financial advisors at a major investment bank.

- Delivered seminars on collaborative problem solving and setting limits and delegating for a technology services firm.

Executive Coaching

Pat assists her clients in creating long-term excellence in their field of expertise by helping them to change unproductive behaviors and to sustain these changes over the long term.

Through a series of one-on-one meetings and individualized exercises over a pre-established period, Pat works with clients to increase their effectiveness and productivity on the job. Initially the client describes what they would like to achieve in order to meet their personal goals. As examples, a client might want to enhance their presentation skills, exhibit more confidence and credibility, develop a more effective communication style or improve listening and patience skills. Pat collaborates with the client to achieve the desired outcomes through increasing their understanding of their behaviors using a variety of tools, exercises and greater self-awareness in work situations.

Representative Coaching Accomplishments

- Coached senior sales executives in how to be more effective leaders by maximizing strengths and supporting areas needing development using various tools, including 360° feedback.

- Coached new managers to accelerate the transition of working with a new team by clarifying expectations, reducing ambiguity, setting the tone for open communication, and by developing an inventory of business issues.

- Facilitated manager meetings to enhance the effectiveness of new and existing teams by affirming team mission, setting team goals, clarifying roles, and establishing team operating agreements.

- Conducted team building and individual self awareness sessions using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to help individuals and teams better understand how their personality type influences their individual effectiveness, leadership style, team performance, and career goals.

Human Resources Consulting

Pat counsels companies on employee relations policy issues and sensitive employee terminations. She has experience in designing and implementing competency models for use in recruiting, evaluating, developing and training. She created J.P. Morgan’s first web-based job posting system and process to source candidates internally and from the Internet. She has developed succession plans to identify high potential candidates and has managed campus recruiting processes to acquire pipeline talent.
